Pet Stains are One of the Toughest Stains on Carpet and Upholstery. The Initial Cleaning is the most Important and Effective Removal Opportunity. The Stains can Become Permanent if not Properly Treated the First Time.
Don’t judge a soiled carpet by its appearance. The urine-damaged portion of your carpet may appear to only be a small spot, but it can actually be a larger portion on the underside of the carpet! For example, a carpet that appears to be 20% damaged on the surface may actually have a damaged area of 60% of the back of the carpet.
Environmental Carpet Solutions will try to remove the urine stain and odor from your carpet, but we are not miracle workers; urine can alter the structure of your carpet, and sometimes this cannot be reversed. We will not attempt to restore urine damaged carpets that have more than 20% of the surface area affected.
He’s Your Best Friend… But Not Your Carpet’s!
For many families, their pets are part of the family. Just like other the members of our family, we normally don’t get rid of them when they have “accidents.” And while pets can and do provide a variety of benefits within our homes, their “accidents” can also create separate set of challenges.
Facts You Need to Know About Pet Urine in Your Carpeting!
Urine deposited on carpet does NOT stay on the surface. It also penetrates the fibers and contaminates both the backing of the carpet, the pad and the flooring material below the carpet. Often, without your knowledge, pets will urinate continually within the same general area, often causing significant contamination and damage.
Urine odors can permeate from the floor be it concrete or wood, from the tack strips, and even from the drywall and structural framework. As urine dries, the moisture evaporates but the urine crystals become even more concentrated and pungent. Simple cleaning will not remove this odor. In fact, these urine crystals are frequently re-activated by moisture. Have you noticed that urine odors become more noticeable as humidity increases? Similarly, the moisture of any cleaning process may cause the urine odor to become more pronounced.
Urine can also cause permanent color damage, either from adding color by dying the carpet fibers or removing color by bleaching out the carpet fibers.
